Addict Profile: Marilyn Monroe

Everyone's favorite drug addict: Marilyn Monroe. Here's the beauty queen. Don't get me wrong, I like her, but I do think that she's entirely too glorified for the way she lived her life. People should not aspire to Ms. Monroe. She's not exactly the best role model.

Monroe was only 35 years old when she died from a drug overdose on barbituates (1962). She was known for mixing drugs with alcohol: deadly cocktail. In fact, she did have some near-death experiences due to this habit.

No one really knows what happened with her death. Details have been debated for years. Explanations range from intentional suicide, accidental suicide, accidental murder, to a murder conspiracy have all been considered. At the time of her death, her doctors were attempting to wean her off of drugs.

"I've never fooled anyone. I've let people fool themselves. They didn't bother to find out who and what I was. Instead they would invent a character for me. I wouldn't argue with them. They were obviously loving somebody I wasn't." -Marilyn Monroe.
